I wanted to copy and paste information from one little website. Is it legal to do so? or can someone tell me what I can on my blog and on which sites?

As long as they don’t specifically say you cannot use there material unless you ask them for permission first and you site your source where you got the material from I think it’s okay
It’s legal as long as you cite the web page you got it from. If you don’t, you can get into a lot of trouble for plagiarism. So, yes. It’s legal.
Content from Wiki? It’s legal as well but it’s not accurate. Wikipedia is open for everyone to edit the page, even yourself. You don’t need an account to edit it either. Anyone can put misleading information on it. My advice is to stay away from Wikipedia.
Even if they do give you permission to re-publish their content, it is not best practice to do so, Search engines hate duplicated content, if you are looking to get organic traffic & a decent page rank, i recommend writing your own unique content, the old saying “content is king” is very much still in affect in terms of the internet.
like you i once built a website using duplicated content and my domain name got banned from google, i cant say this was for the duplicate content for sure, i have since made a new website using word press writing my own unique articles and i am on page one on google for certain keywords.
its hard work but its worth it in the end, sometimes i read other articles then simply rewrite them into my own words, the search engines love it!
What I have done when I needed to quote a content from a site is to enclose the exact content with quotation marks as well as the link for the source. This method seems to have satisfied both the source site and search engines. Some site specifically tell you that if you have to use any content, you must include the source website and or the author
